1) Emotional intelligence involves a few things. Children need to understand what they are feeling and what has happened that they feel that way. We would discuss different emotions that they may have and what makes them feel that way. Many times problems are caused because they don't know how to respond to others so, we would talk about acceptable responses for different situations. I would help them to learn to communicate their emotions. Communication is a great tool. On the other side it is also important for them to understand how others feel, o be able to put themselves in their place and feel for them. I think that it is also important that the children learn to respect themselves and love themselves, it is hard to respect others if you do not respect yourself.
2) From What I have seen of both Gardner and Sternberg's theories I think that Gardner's would be the most helpful as a teacher. Gardner goes into detail about different sorts of intelligence and this can be very helpful as a teacher to understand. If you know what kind of things motivate each child and what they are particularly good at you can know how to motivate them but also see in what areas you can help them to improve.
3) I personally am not a fan of IQ tests. There are problems with them. It is only valid under certain circumstances. If the person being tested is a second language learner and they have little experience in the language being tested the test becomes bias. The test is only useful up to a certain age as well. I think that they do hold a place in education but that it is a very small one. It can be used to see if a child may have learning disabilities.
